Your first appointment is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know one another. During this 60-minute intake session, we will explore what has brought you to counseling, discuss your goals, and review any relevant background that may help guide our work together. You are also welcome to ask questions and share any hopes or concerns you may have about the counseling process. My goal is for you to feel comfortable, supported, and understood from the very beginning.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapy that helps people heal from distressing or traumatic experiences.
When something overwhelming happens, the brain may not fully process the experience. As a result, memories of the event can remain “stuck” and continue to trigger strong emotions, negative beliefs, or physical reactions long after the event has passed.
EMDR helps the brain reprocess these memories so they become less distressing. During EMDR sessions, a therapist guides the client in briefly focusing on a difficult memory while using bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements or tapping. This process helps the brain integrate the memory in a healthier way.
Over time, the memory often feels less overwhelming, and people are able to view themselves, their experiences, and the world around them with greater clarity and calm.
